Restrictions are beginning to ease further in the ACT. Cafes, restaurants and other businesses are beginning to open up. As a church, this has meant that some of us have been able to gather physically in homes on Sunday mornings to join the livestream together. The easing restrictions also means that we can now gather (in limited numbers) in the church building as well! We won’t be doing this on Sunday mornings at the moment – we’re going to keep livestreaming in our current format so that it’s accessible for all who wish to participate.
What this does mean, is that we’re able to come together to celebrate Holy Communion during the week. Regular midweek communion services (weekly or fortnightly) will be held during the day and in the evening (not always on the same day of the week) – information about dates and times is in the weekly eNews and updated here. The liturgy will be a simple spoken word and prayer order, with reflective music (about 30 minutes) – kids are welcome.
Because we’re only allowed to have 40 people attending at this stage, you’ll have to register for a ‘ticket’ at the link above or by contacting the office. Due to number restrictions, if you haven’t ‘booked’ a ticket, you won’t be able to participate.
Some people won’t feel comfortable gathering together at this stage, but would like to share the bread and wine as part of the Body of Christ. If you’re in this situation, Pastor Dennis and Jacob would love to share communion with you in your home – please contact the office to arrange this.
The Board of Leadership has approved a risk assessment, and we’re taking steps to limit the risk of COVID-19 transmission – including the use of face masks during the preparation and distribution of communion. If you’d like to see Immanuel’s COVID Safety Plan, you can ask the office for a copy of the current version. If you’re over 70, over 65 with a chronic health condition, or have a compromised immune system please consider the current health advice when deciding if you will join a gathering.
