St John shares many conversations involving Jesus and others on his journey to the cross. These conversations are so full of insights that one can read them over and over and keep discovering new things about our Saviour.
One of these fascinating conversations is found in John chapter 4 – Jesus and the woman of Samaria.
This encounter takes place at a well, Jacob’s well! There’s a sermon already.
Jesus is alone with the woman whose history is rather complex. When the disciples return, having been in town to Maccas for take-aways, we read that the woman “left her water jar and went back to the city”.
Left her water jar behind! What does that mean?
And into the city to tell her ‘friends’ about the person who she has met who just might be the Messiah.
