Oh for a miracle!
In Acts 9 it is recorded that a female follower of Jesus, who is known for helping the poor, gets sick and dies. Peter the apostle is called and is shown the room where her body lies in state. Peter asks the mourners to leave the room. He gets down on his knees and prays. After he prays, he turns to the woman and says “Tabitha get up”. And Tabitha opens her eyes and sits up. Word about this got around. As a result many people came to faith in Jesus.
What an amazing miracle it would be if today, someone was raised to life. People would hear about it and come flocking to our church. It would make our mission communities grow and speed up our church planting project.
Unfortunately you can’t always predict the result of a miracle. Many people saw the miracles of Jesus and they did not believe or follow him. The Pharisees when they saw his miracles only became angry at Jesus and tried to kill him.
Miracles don’t always make a person believe. Sometimes they can have quite the opposite effect. In each situation we need to pray and ask God. Only he knows when a miracle will help to create faith.
