Mission Today
Here at Immanuel we have been on the “Sending Church” journey for over four years. We have been delighted to see new mission communities formed. We have been thrilled to have Jacob Traeger take up the role of Mission Facilitator and Church Planting Leader. Many times we have prayed for responsive people who are coming to know Jesus. But do we all understand the journey that we are on; is it clear to us all?
Luke 10 is the foundational text for mission today. In this passage Jesus sends out the 70 disciples to go and prepare people for his arrival and to hear the good news of the kingdom of God. In these bible verses we find principles and values that we try to live out as we engage in mission together. Expect to find a person of peace. Travel light for the job. Don’t get distracted from the task that Jesus has given us all. Expect God to be ahead of us preparing hearts. When someone is not receptive, don’t be discouraged, move on to tell others.
Today, as we celebrate our second Oikos Sunday, may we come to a greater understanding of our mission journey together.
