On February 19th this year there was a “super moon”. Super moons occur when the moon in its orbit is slightly closer to the earth than usual. On these nights the moon looks bigger and brighter. It really dominates the sky, and you can almost read a book using the light of the moon. It is almost like sunshine, lighting up everything around you in the dark. The moon, of course, does not emit its own light; it is merely reflecting the light that it receives from the sun.
In a similar way we are reflectors of God. In the reading from 2 Corinthians 3 for this Sunday, it says that we as Gods people reflect the glory of God. It says “we are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory.’
Wow, think about it! You and I are reflections of God. This is amazing news. As we spend time with God, we reflect more and more of him.
This is what happened to Moses on the mountain. He spent considerable time with God and his face ended up so bright that he had to put a veil over it.
So every time you spend increasing time with God, his glory shines out of you too. His character, his kindness and his being. To others it is like experiencing God himself.
P.S. The next super moon is on March 21, 2019. Look out for it!
