The Immanuel Board of Leadership (BoL) invites all members of Immanuel to join an exploration of where the Spirit is inviting us next. Throughout 2026 we’ll be running a vision and planning process about our mission as the household of God (oikos). This process will involve a series of conversations, first to articulate a clear, specific vision statement with the next ten years in mind, and then to turn this vision into achievable next steps along the road.

BoL have asked Pastor Jacob to facilitate this process. We’re hoping to have the vision statement finalised around October 2026, with some initial steps in place early in 2027.

At church camp and in the lead up to the first workshop in June, people had been asked to contribute a word or sentence which described what Immanuel would be like in 10 years’ time. A key repeated theme was ‘community.’ At the workshop we explored this question further, using metaphors to imagine how Immanuel could be as we follow where God is calling us.

You’re invited to the next workshop on Saturday 17 October, from 2-5pm in the Immanuel hall. Please bring your thoughts and reflections, and think of who you will invite to come with you. Anybody who wishes to contribute is welcome to attend. At this workshop we will distill these thoughts so far into one vision for the medium to long term, and begin to develop some steps along the road to get there.
