Demonstrating Gods love for us, by the way we behave towards one another, is central to life in our church. Safe Church training is part of the Lutheran Church of Australia's (LCA) commitment to reflect God's love through the way we treat each other and those who come into contact with our church. Those involved in ministry teams and leadership positions at Immanuel Woden Valley are required to complete Safe Church training. Other interested members of the congregation are also encouraged to complete the training.
There are two levels of training: Level 1 for Team Members and Level 2 for Team Leaders. Training can be completed online or at in-person workshops and is valid for three years, after which the individual can complete a refresher course.
Ministry Team Member Appointment Process
As part of the Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA), our congregation follows the LCA Safe Church process in appointing ministry team members. This includes:
- completing an application form
- providing two referee reports
- providing evidence of a current ACT Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) card
- interview with the team leader
An essential part of being a team member is a willingness to complete LCA Safe Church training (the cost of which is covered by the congregation).
